OVER 100 YEARS OLD
Potton Bowls Club was first formed in the year 1917 at a venue called ‘The Hollies’. From there the club moved to the rear of ‘The Old Coach House’ then known as ‘The Rose & Crown Hotel’. Bowls were played at this venue for many years, with many notable players representing the County. A few names come to mind e.g. John Hills, Jesse Smith, Lavinia Emery, Freda Norman, Sylvia Baker, and there were more, so it was quite a Club with prestige.
We Offer ROLL UPS FOR ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO TRY BOWLS.
We hold regular roll up sessions so that you can visit the club and give bowls a go! We are a very friendly club and welcome newcomers of all ages and abilities. We even have pros on hand to show you the ropes and get you started.
OUR FRIENDLY CLUB
We are a very friendly Club with 70+ members including social membership, and are hoping to encourage new members to join us. We are also trying to encourage young people to play bowls too, and have at present two young ladies playing, of which we are delighted.
Please note, we now have a new Clubhouse which we are very proud of and opened officially by Mrs Len Mitchell who is the wife of our belated President Len Mitchell on May 7th 2011.
